Transformative Connected School: A Road Map for Success

The Transformative Connected School (TCS) System is intended to help you make the highest levels of school function and effectiveness a practical sustainable reality at your school. All schools have a Transformative Connected School within them that is being held back by explainable and controllable factors.

The TCS system will enable you understand what is limiting your growth and achievement, lay out a road map for success, and provides facilitation, training and tools to help you get there. This document is intended to provide an overview of the system, and includes 1) an introductory rationale and comparison of TCS to other programs, 2) an overview of system implementation and how we assist you in becoming a TCS School, and 3) an in-depth explanation of the TCS conceptual model.

Transformative Connected School System Seminar

New View Publications and the Alliance for the Study of School Climate invite you to the "Transformative Connected School System Seminar" Salisbury, NC - June 27-28, 2012

Authors Perry Good and John Shindler invite you to their second collaborative seminar. They will explain the relationship between student achievement and school climate and outline the Transformative Connected School System which will enable your school to reach its full potential. Known for A Connected School, Perry Good has pioneered the teaching of Perceptual Control Theory to educators throughout the United States and abroad for the past twenty years. John Shindler, professor of education at California State University and Co-director of the Alliance for the Study of School Climate, is one of the leaders of the movement to focus on school climate as the fundamental ingredient for student achievement and school improvement.

Many of you are familiar with, have participated in, and are part of the Connected School, Alliance for the Study of School Climate, or Pilot Schools Network communities and have utilized their services, products and systems. The collaboration between New View and the Alliance for the Study of School Climate is one that merges decades of research and exceptional products, services and seminars into a new system called the Transformative Connected School (TCS).

Not all school improvement programs are alike. The TCS System is fundamentally different and superior in a number of significant ways to the many school improvement "programs" that are available today. The TCS System will enable you to understand what is limiting growth and achievement in your school or district, lay out a road map for your success and provide facilitation, training and tools to help you get there. It offers a unique model and roadmap and combines 50 years of research. The TCS System is not a program; it is a system of principle-based interventions that operate to fundamentally and sustainably educate and as a result, change schools.

A Connected School

Abstract: Perceptual Control Theory offers a framework for understanding and predicting the effects of a range of evidence-based school improvement strategies and practices currently in use throughout K-12 public schools in the United States. The goals of public school education are explored in light of the social and political controversies that surround school improvement efforts and how these have shaped the public discourse. PCT presents a way of looking at group behavior in light of, and as a consequence of, individual behavior. The theory is an important knowledge base for all individuals who want to help others learn and grow.
